Cookies policy
WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are data files that are stored in your browser and on your device when you visit any website. Cookies can serve various purposes, such as recognising the user, storing and retrieving information about browsing habits, or customising the way content is displayed.
WHAT INFORMATION DO COOKIES STORE?
Cookies store technical information, personal preferences, and content customisation. Normally, cookies do not contain any personal information. Any personal data they may contain is solely the information that the user has entered into a form on the site.
In most cases, when a cookie does contain personal information, it is encoded in such a way that it is unreadable to any third party who might gain access to the cookie file.
WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES EXIST?
According to the entity that manages the domain from which the cookies are sent and processes the data obtained, the following types are distinguished:
- First-party cookies: Sent to the user’s device from a computer or domain managed by the website owner (the editor) and used to provide the service requested by the user.
- Third-party cookies: Sent to the user’s device from a computer or domain not managed by the editor, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through cookies.
According to the length of time they remain stored in the user’s browser:
- Session cookies: Collect and store data while the user accesses a website. They are typically used to store information needed only once, for example, a list of products in a shopping cart.
- Persistent cookies: Data remain stored on the user’s device and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the cookie owner, which may range from a few minutes to several years.
According to the purpose for which the data obtained are processed:
- Technical cookies: Allow users to browse a website, platform, or application and use the different options or services available, such as controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering the items in a shopping cart, completing a purchase process, registering for an event, using security features during browsing, storing content for video or audio streaming, or sharing content through social networks.
- Personalisation cookies: Allow users to access the service with predefined general characteristics based on criteria on their device, such as language, browser type, or regional settings.
- Analytics cookies: Enable the tracking and analysis of user behaviour on linked websites. Information collected through these cookies is used to measure website, application, or platform activity and to create user browsing profiles, with the aim of improving the service.
- Advertising cookies: Allow the most efficient possible management of advertising spaces.
- Behavioural advertising cookies: Store information on user behaviour obtained through continuous observation of browsing habits, which allows the creation of a specific profile to display advertising tailored to it.
- External social media cookies: Used so that visitors can interact with the content of different social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn). These cookies are generated only for users of those platforms. The terms of use of these cookies and the information they collect are governed by the privacy policy of each respective social platform.
